Youth Ministry
Where faith is nurtured, friendships are formed, and every student belongs.
Core Student Ministries
Serving students in grades 6-12
Core Student Ministries at First Methodist Church serves students in grades 6–12 as more than a place to attend—it's a place to belong.
Students are welcomed just as they are into a Christ-centered community where faith is real, relationships are genuine, and every life has purpose; they laugh together, ask big questions, open Scripture, and learn to follow Jesus in everyday life.
We believe the teenage years matter and are committed to walking alongside students as they discover who God is and who He created them to be, helping them grow in faith, build authentic relationships, and find the life God is calling them into.
Faith at Core is not about having all the answers but about trusting God, asking honest questions, and supporting one another—“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24 NLT) and “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6 NLT). Come as you are, bring a friend, and find your place at Core.
Our Core Beliefs
Everything we do at Core Student Ministries is rooted in Jesus Christ.
We believe Jesus is the Son of God, who gave His life for us and rose again, offering forgiveness, hope, and new life.
We believe discipleship matters and that faith grows best through intentional community.
We believe students were never meant to walk alone - relationships, mentorship, and belonging are essential.
We believe every student is deeply loved by God, created with purpose, and worthy of care and encouragement.
No matter where a student is in their faith journey, they are welcome here.

After School Programming
Wednesdays 4-6 p.m.
For Parents
Your student’s safety, spiritual growth, and well-being matter deeply to us. After-School Programming is led by trusted, caring adults who are committed to creating a Christ-centered, age-appropriate environment where students are encouraged, supported, and known.
Our goal is not just to entertain students, but to help them develop a lasting faith foundation grounded in God’s Word.
“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth.”
3 John 1:4 (NLT)After-School Programming is the heartbeat of Core Student Ministries. Each week, students in grades 6 - 12 are welcomed into a safe, encouraging environment where they can unwind after school, build friendships, and grow in their faith.
This time together is intentionally Bible-based, centered on Scripture, discussion, and practical application. Students explore God’s Word, ask honest questions, and learn how faith connects to everyday life.
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (NLT)
Through games, shared meals, worship, and teaching, students experience a Christ-centered community that supports them spiritually, emotionally, and socially.

Confirmation
A journey of faith
Confirmation is a year-long journey where students explore the foundations of Christian faith and begin to claim their faith as their own.
Students are encouraged to learn, reflect, ask questions, and grow in their understanding of who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him.
Each student is paired with a mentor - a trusted adult who walks alongside them, offering guidance, prayer, and encouragement throughout the journey.
“Continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him.”
Colossians 2:6 - 7 (NLT)Who Can Participate
Typically begins in 6th grade
Open to any student who has not completed Confirmation
Meets 2 - 3 times per month during Sunday School
Includes retreats, service projects, and shared faith experiences
The journey begins in mid-August and concludes in April, culminating in the opportunity for students to publicly affirm their faith before the congregation.
